BREAK THE ICE:
Do you like taxes, or the tax collector (the Internal Revenue Service)?
Transition: Today we look at an over 2,000 year old profession and the Tax collector, named
Zaccheaus.
Read Luke 19:1-4
What was his obstacle, and how did he overcome it?
Why do you think He desired to see Jesus?
What was Jesus’ response to Zaccheaus in verse 5?
Read vv. 6-10
What was the response to the crowd, where were they focused?
What was Zaccheaus’ response to Jesus?
How do we know his heart changed?
Truth – Salvation is the utmost outcome of everyone in need of God.
How did salvation come to his house today in vv. 9-10?
What is significant in that Jesus called him a son of Abraham?
Focus changes everything!!
“In the illusion our self-sufficiency, we don’t recognize our true
God-dependency“
Truth – Zaccheaus changed his focus, and it changed his life

What was the main truth of this passage?
How does that apply to you and me today?
Salvation came to Zaccheaus because of two things:
- the faith of Zaccheaus
- the work of Jesus
Truth – Salvation totally changed Zaccheaus’ place, pace and priority?
