BREAK THE ICE:

Have you ever been the only one standing for truth. in school, in your family, at work?

Why is it so difficult to go against the “false convenient truth” of the day?

Remember – Extraordinary faith requires a singular focus on The Way, The Truth, and the Life!

Read John 14:6 Who is the only one that is truth?

Read Proverbs 14:12 How does this verse contrast with John 14:6?

TRANSITION:

Today we will look at, Micaiah, who listened to the truth, not the crowd, and demonstrated great faith.

Truth – In a noisy world, there are lots of voices to distract us. We must be diligent to hear the true voice of God.

BRING THE WORD:

Read 1 KIngs 22:1-5

What is the story context in these verses? What is the pivotal question involved?

Read v. 6

Who does KIng Ahab of Israel rely upon for counsel and wisdom?

Truth – Not all good counsel is God’s counsel !

Read v. 7 What does King Jehoshaphat of Judah request?

Read v. 8 How does King Ahab of Israel reply? Why doesn’t he like Micaiah?

Read vv. 13-14. How did Micaiah get pressured? What was his reply?

Truth – The voice of God is not the voice of man!

Points of Application:

  1. There is always a crowd with loud voices leading people astray

Read Matthew 7:13-14 What is the truth in these verses?

2. There is clarity and truth in God, seek and focus on HIs voice

Read Psalm 1:1-2

How is a blessed man/woman described in these verses?

What do they refrain from, and what do cling to?

Read Matthew 7:7-8 Whose responsibility is it to ask, seek and knock?

John 16:13. What is the truth in this scripture?

Truth – God’s Spirit is the Spirit of Truth !

Personal Application:

  • Your Faith in God will be tested daily in this generation – Be on Guard this Week !
  • Earnestly contend for the faith, seek the Spirit of Truth this week !

Read 2 John 1:3-4, 7-10

Summarize these verses as you close this study.

Remember . . .

  1. There is always a crowd with loud voices leading people astray.

  3. You and I can be an ordinary person, with extraordinary faith, like Micaiah.
