BREAK THE ICE:

Have you ever seen the sign Caution – Under Construction!

Or PBPWMGIFWMY ! Do you know what that means?

TRANSITION:

“Please be patient with me, God isn’t finished with me yet”

We are going to differentiate between two theological terms today:

Justification (Gods Work) Ephesians 2:8

Being declared righteous before God through

Jesus Christ by grace through faith

Sanctification (Our work) John 14:26

Walking with Christ, exercising daily disciplines, like prayer,

scripture reading and meditation lead by the Holy Spirit

Looking at sanctification today, let’s read 1 Thessalonians 2:13-15

How did the Thessalonians respond to the WORD?

  • Re _________ the Word
  • We _________ the Word
  • Word is Effectively _______ in you!
  • Became _________ of God and the Word
  • Suff _______ because of the Word

Summation – The WORD is active !

Read Hebrews 4:12 What does the Word do or perform according to this scripture?

Read John 17:17 What is truth in this passage?

What’s the outcome of the WORD?

Truth: A study revealed life change demonstrably occurs with at least four engagements a week in scripture

“Center for Bible Engagement”

This shows the WORD gets in you for life change when you show a level of spiritual commitment, just like physical work-outs produce muscle and cardiac growth.

Truth = The WORD works when YOU work the WORD!

BRING THE WORD:

Truth: The WORD is not for information, but for transformation!

Personal Application

Read Psalm 119:11

What does it mean to hide the WORD in one’s heart?

Here is a process of Bible Study for transformation in one’s life

H-I-D-E

Personal Application:

D iscover (write sins to confess, orders to obey, examples to follow)

E ngage (apply the words personally)

Santification = “growing up into your salvation”

Growing up into our salvation is a lifelong pursuit, requiring scheduling daily discipline and work.

Spiritual Growth doesn’t just happen, it requires intentional effort!
